Several hijacked academic publications are used to defraud researchers. The goal of this article is to present the most recent list of recognized cloned journals.
Researchers and scientists can examine the legitimacy of titles before submitting their work using this list of journals that has been cloned.
A list of clone journals that are supposedly running online under a recreation of the original and are thought to have misled the entire academic community for an extended time was recently published by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The cloned journals in Group I and Group II of UGC CARE-approved journals were listed in this article.
What is cloned journal?
‘Cloned’ websites that closely resemble the websites of legitimate journals but contain small changes to the web domain that go unnoticed at first look are the most common form of hijacked journals.
Clone journal web pages are a fake reflection of an actual journal that use the titles and ISSNs of real journals while making minor text, numbers, or URL changes.
Additionally, identical to the legitimate journals, the cloned websites list the ISSN on their webpages.
As a result, author fees are collected by cloned journals that resemble the original publications.
What is a UGC care list?
Journals from all disciplines that are indexed in widely used databases, such as Scopus (Source list) or Web of Science (Arts and Humanities Citation Index Source Publication, Science Citation Index Expanded Source Publication, Social Science Citation Index Source Publication), are included in the UGC-CARE List.
